Join us for the next in the North-East IT Leadership Club series, organised by The Robert Gordon University in association with ScotlandIS, Head Resourcing and McGrigors.
The speaker, Mary Vincent, is one of the world’s leading experts on green IT innovation. She'll explore the challenges and opportunities of the case for Green IT, Data Centre Case Studies, and IT Innovation Methodologies.
Ian Allison, Head of the School of Computing at Robert Gordon University, comments: “We are delighted to welcome Mary to our shores. When you consider that Google handles something like 200 million searches daily, and some say just a couple of these generate as much energy as it takes to boil a kettle, the issue of green IT suddenly becomes a pressing matter. Research suggests that the IT industry generates as much greenhouse gas as the world’s airlines!”
Speaker: Mary Vincent, who’s based in San Francisco, and has an impressive track record of software product innovation, is now an ambassador and evangelist for green software solutions.
She is Founder and CEO of Green Star Solution, a Global Business, Technology, and Innovation Firm. Previously, Mary worked at Sun Microsystems and DHL, creating and managing global Java engineering, customer, and compliance programs. Mary has an MBA in E-Business and served in the US Peace Corps in Hungary.
Mary founded the following businesses: Green App Store, an online green electronics store, Gratitude Gourmet, a sustainable food website, and co-founded the Green Software Unconference Silicon Valley.
Mary publishes a green business blog called Clean Tech and Green Business, operates the Clean Technology Facebook Group, speaks on Clean Tech, Green Software, Green Business, Sustainable and Low Carbon Food, and Environmental Entrepreneurship, and is a Stakeholder Advisory Group Member of the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol, developing a new standard for product and supply chain GHG Accounting and Reporting.
