At this year's ScotSoft, in addition to the Young Software Engineer Awards, we will be making three industry awards and we're after your nominations. The three awards are :
1. Award for Outstanding Business Achievement - an individual given to
the person who has done most for the industry in Scotland in the last
year
2. 2in10 Award for Outstanding Performance in Business Growth
3. Award for Technology Journalist of the Year
Please nominate the people or business you think best fit the criteria below - you can even nominate your own business, we promise not to tell.
Award for Outstanding Business Achievement
A personal award, given to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Scottish software and ICT industry.
This is a special award and is intended to recognise exceptional business achievement. (Last year the award was given to Ann Budge, CEO of Sopra Newell & Budge).
2in10 Award Outstanding Performance in Business Growth
This award will be given to an individual or team working in an indigenous Scottish software company or to the company as a whole. The prize is deliberately wide-ranging in the definition of what qualifies as examples of outstanding performance in business growth, but might include:
* A highly effective, targeted sales campaign
* A change in channel strategy to achieve a particular goal
* Launch into a new market, either sectoral or territorial
* Year on year sales growth
* A switch from selling services to selling product
* Exceptional sales performance by a sales person or sales team
* Design and execution of a channel marketing campaign
The award is for actual performance or execution, not just concepts or plans, although the quality of the planning will be taken into account.
Scottish Technology Journalist of the Year
This will be given to the journalist who has either
(a) written the best story about technology and its impact, or
(b) has consistently provided informed coverage of technology developments
Good news stories tend to be in short supply at the moment but technology sector has been producing good results and interesting stories - we need to encourage the media to talk our industry up rather than down so tell us which journalist in your judgement does this best.
To submit your nominations for any, or preferably all three of these awards, please click through to the nominations form - the deadline for nominations is 15th September 2009.
