Brunel University and the Energy Generation & Supply KTN, in association with the Digital Communications KTN, are pleased to invite you to learn about our cutting-edge research work in the Energy sector and meet the researchers at Brunel.
The rapid updating of energy supply networks over the coming decades, required to enable sustainability and energy security, will demand new ‘smart’ solutions based on developments in information and communications technology. This event will bring together researchers and experts in energy networks and in relevant areas of ICT to explore the prospective technologies and research directions in this vital area. As well as an opportunity to hear from expert speakers, the event will offer networking opportunities and a brief tour of research facilities.

Topics to be covered in detail during the day include:

• What are the EU and UK policy backgrounds for the coming decades?
• How can recent advances in communications, high performance computing and eScience benefit the development of smart grids? Will consumer behaviour adapt and how can this be accurately modelled?
• What are the prospects for continent-wide super grids? Will the necessary inter-operability among utilities be provided by standards such as CIM?

Leading experts will present and discuss with delegates these and other similar questions.

Who should attend?
• Those working at the forefront of energy and ICT related issues: smart energy & smart grid.
• Senior managers and industrialists.
• Industrial and academic researchers.
