This course is aimed at those new to SEO but who have some knowledge of website usage and/or web design. Course topics include:
- SEO - what is it? Search engines, how they work and short history
- Good web design practice: creating usable/accessible sites, usability tools, writing semantic HTML and web dev techniques for search results.
- Writing Search Friendly content, readers v spiders, headings, labels, duplicate content, silos and authority.
- Keyword phrases/search terms, research tools and competitor analysis
- Practical optimisation: meta data (title, header & alt tags), before & after and ranking tools
- Offsite promotion: Google page rank, link build, exchanges, bait and paid. Directories, social bookmarking, email newsletters & PR
- Black Hat SEO
- Socail Media: using blogs, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, YouTube and creating social networking campaigns
- SEO tools for research, links and analysis
- Using Google Analytics to review performance.
