Healthcare in the 21st century is rapidly evolving from a purely hospital and surgery based service to a patient centred model.  A range of circumstances from demographics to the current economic crisis is driving enormous change in healthcare across the globe.

This event focuses on introducing innovative technology businesses to a burgeoning healthcare market they may never have considered entering and will bring together healthcare professionals, clinicians, academics, inventors, investors and technology companies.

This year's Key Note Speaker is Andy Taylor from the Association of British Healthcare Industries and the event will be chaired by Kevin Wilson, Innova Partnerships Ltd and UK Trade and Investment.

Presentations will include:

Innovative Healthcare Solutions for the Future - Andy Taylor, Director, Healthcare Policy, UK Market Affairs Department, Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI).

International Trends in Healthcare - Dr Christoph Thuemmler, Consultant Physician with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust and Director of the Centre for Applied eHealth at Edinburgh Napier University.

Four breakout sessions on the topics of fund raising, regulatory framework and two case studies highlighting how to bring a medical device to market will follow the keynote addresses.

  • Regulatory Requirements for Medical Devices - Cheynee Whipps, Scottish Health Innovations Ltd.
  • From Concept to Commercialisation - Grant King and Stuart Kelly, WideBlue
  • Funding Sources - Jonathan Harris, Young Company Finance and Alex Buchan, North Star Equity Investors
  • Remote Patient Monitoring Case Study - Roma Maguire, Cancer Care Research Centre

You will attend only two of the above breakout sessions.

The formal programme will be followed by lunch and the opportunity to network with like minded companies and individuals during the showcase exhibition.  There are also opportunities for 1-2-1 confidential meetings with the breakout session presenters.  Please note that the workshop presenters will require you to meet certain criteria before they meet 1-2-1 with you.  Data will be collected via an online Questionnaire to determine your suitability to meet for a 1-2-1.
