On 6 June the Technology Strategy Board announced that it will invest up to £7M to fund collaborative R&D projects that will mobilise the talents and inspiration of information and communication technology (ICT) companies to develop new approaches for key challenges in manufacturing and construction.
These challenges lie around:
- deriving and reusing knowledge
- interoperability across supply chains
- engaging users in design and operation processes
- accelerating product and process innovation.
The competition focuses on the software components of ICT and the alignment of ICT systems with people and processes. The project innovation must be in the software and process-change elements to be in scope.
The TSB invites organisations to compete for this money, with successful projects generally attracting from £100k to £1.5m of public funding. Projects can last no more than 24 months and academic organisations may share up to 30% of the total grant for a project. This event is your opportunity to hear about the background and rationale for this competition together with details of how to bid for funding. It also offers those interested in bidding an opportunity to network together and to identify potential partners or collaborators.
During what is expected to be a highly interactive session each delegate should expect to be invited by the Chair to give a strictly timed 1 minute presentation about what they can bring to this area – this will provide input to assist in the active networking and Q&A sessions that will follow. You are invited take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to bid for this funding.
