100 jobs for city as firm opens new base
BiP Solutions, which provides electronic business information services on public procurement contracts, will base the jobs at its new premises at Pacific Quay. Welcoming the announcement, Finance Secretary John Swinney said it was "excellent news for Glasgow and the wider economy, particularly during the current economic climate".
BiP Solutions employs 160 staff at Shawfield and is planning a £1million programme of capital expenditure, which includes moving to the Medius Building at Pacific Quay.
The new jobs are being backed by £800,000 in public cash through the Regional Selective Assistance scheme.
Mr Swinney said the move underlined the Government's commitment to ensuring Scotland was well placed for a "faster and stronger recovery".
He added: "By supporting job creation and helping to increase sustainable economic growth, RSA can be an important tool in our effort to help companies - and our economy - weather the global downturn.
"Having attended the recent launch of the Digital Media Quarter in Glasgow, I know BiP Solutions will benefit from the excellent new facilities, which will provide a platform for the company to grow.
"At the same time, this Government will push ahead with delivering our Scottish economic recovery plan to help more and more businesses not just survive, but grow and flourish."
The company's chief executive officer, Ron Burges, said: "This investment is a tangible recognition of the success of BiP, the dedication and expertise of our staff and the quality of the leading edge services we provide.
"Our new HQ provides a platform of opportunity, offering not only a state of the art facility that reflects BiP's ambition, but more importantly, the space to expand and deliver new and innovative services to a growing market, nationally and internationally."
