Amor Group strengthens aviation expertise with takeover
Amor Group, the Glasgow-based IT firm, has signalled its confidence in the global economic outlook by acquiring Manchester-based rival FS Walker Hughes in a multi-million pound deal.
The deal will result in Amor adding UK operators such as Manchester Airport Group, to its own aviation client base which already includes BAA, and will allow Amor to offer the Chroma software suite, which can be used to manage operations ranging from passenger check-in to the management of the stands that planes depart from, to its own suite of aviation industry solutions.
John Innes, chief executive of Amor, said: “The acquisition delivers early mover advantage for us in the aviation business – making Amor the first provider to be able to deliver proven ‘kerb to gate’ solutions to our customers.” Mr Innes added: “The combined result will be a force to be reckoned with in the dynamic international airport sector.”
The acquisition should also support Amor's expansion into rapidly growing overseas markets, such as the Middle East. Amor is moving to increase its presence in the oil-rich Middle East by opening an office in Dubai in the autumn. Oil and gas is another key market for Amor. The company said it hopes to establish a base in Asia in 2012.
