Atos Origin Boost For The Sick Kids Friends Foundation And Volunteers Over 1000 Man Hours
Atos Origin, the leading international information technology (IT) services company, with significant presence in Livingston, has continued to demonstrate its commitment to the local community through a range of charitable initiatives, raising money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation and undertaking voluntary work in the Sunndach Children's Respite Home in Livingston.
This week, Atos Origin is delighted to present a cheque for £6600 to Will Guest, Corporate Fundraiser of the children’s charity. The monies have been raised through a number of initiatives including competitions, raffles, World Cup predictions and social events, with some of their employees participating individually in events such as sky diving, sponsored cycles and the Edinburgh Marathon. In the last year, Atos Origin’s people have also provided 1000 man hours of volunteer work to maintain NHS Lothian’s Sunndach Children's Respite Home garden in Eliburn.
Steve Langmead, Vice President - Scotland at Atos Origin, said: “We are pleased that Atos Origin continues to be recognised as an excellent business and a responsible employer. Through offering support like this to our chosen charity we are pleased that our people can help to make a difference to children and families’ lives in the local community.”
Maureen Harrison, Chief Executive of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, said: “We are grateful for such a significant donation from a local business. Atos Origin has always been supportive of what we do, and have continued to build their relationship with Sunndach. This gift has already enabled us to buy technology equipment for the children's wards and will enable us to buy a variety of sensory items to enrich the children's' environment at the house. They are an extremely valuable organisation to have in the area both in terms of employment and what they give back to the local community.”
Atos Origin won Best Business category of the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2009. The Awards are the biggest celebration of business achievement in West Lothian, and showcase the talent, drive, commitment and successes of local businesses.
