Ailsa Symeonides, who runs Axios's sales and marketing division, commented that during the company's 2008 financial year it opened new offices in the United Arab Emirates and Russia to take advantage of the opportunities in emerging markets. She added that the company had expanded its US presence with more staff and extended premises. The new offices increase Axios's physical geographical presence into a dozen countries although its systems are used in companies in scores of other countries. "This year, we expect something like 60% of our revenue to come from outside the UK," said Symeonides.
"Europe is changing, and for us we see more opportunities than ever before, especially in eastern Europe. We find it very promising. That's the point of the new office in Russia, but there are also opportunities in Hungary, Poland, Romania and all through eastern and central Europe really."
According to Nico Nicholas, the company's Finance Director "Recession has not been an obstacle to our business. In fact, it has helped, because our systems find ways for organisations to be efficient and more cost effective - and that's critical in an economic downturn."
Axios set to break £20million barrier
Axios Systems, the Scottish software developer, is poised to break through the £20m turnover barrier this year as its worldwide expansion continues unabated.
