Call for TAX breaks as Scots computer sector aims for full-throttle growth
SCOTLAND must double the revenues generated by its digital media sector within the next three years in order to achieve a "step-change" in its global reputation, an industry advisory group will claim today.
The growth plan, which would take the sector's revenues to some £6.3 billion by 2012, will be unveiled by the Scottish Digital Media Industry Advisory Group, which brings together industry veterans to advise Scottish Enterprise and other public bodies.
Stuart Cosgrove, director of nations and regions at Channel 4 and chairman of the group, said digital markets – including music downloads, digital photography and social networking sites – offer "huge potential" for Scottish firms.
The strategy calls for a pilot programme of tax and fiscal benefits to support the Dundee games sector – the heart of the industry – in 2010 to increase competitiveness.
