Growth plans for IT group Amor hitting the right notes
Three years ago, when John Innes led the £28 million management buyout that created Amor Group, he thought it odd that no-one else had spotted the missing ingredient that would transform it into Scotland’s largest independent business technology solutions company.
He says: “When the opportunity arose to put the two businesses together, what I saw was a company with great people and great customers – but the prospects for growth were severely limited by the fact that there was almost no emphasis on sales and marketing..
Amor’s client list now reads like a roster of some of the world’s most powerful companies and organisations, which include BP, Cable & Wireless, ConocoPhillips, E.On, RWE, Maersk, Schlumberger and ScottishPower, as well as a raft of airports and public sector bodies.
Three years and two acquisitions later, not to mention umpteen major contract wins, Mr Innes now has plans to raise turnover to £72m by 2013. Moreover, since the MBO, Amor has grown from 330 staff to 475 – with plans to hit more than 500 in the next few weeks.
