Like the weather the IT market is heating up
In its Market Insight published to-day, specialist IT agency, 9-20recruitment report that pressure on the Scottish IT recruitment market has continued throughout the year.
CEO Wendy McDougall commented "The confidence in Scotland’s IT sector has continued from January with investment now being heavily focused on sales and software development efforts in particular. To combat their multiple requirements a number of companies are now entering into an ‘always recruiting’ state with many looking to be notified once a suitable candidate re-enters the market."
So what does this mean for those who are recruiting? Well unfortunately it does mean there’s even greater competition when looking to recruit in those highly sought-after areas of the market. Particularly with the current undersupply of interface, web and application development skills across all object orientated skill-sets. The APSCo Monthly Trends report1 also recently indicated that 90,416 new IT jobs were advertised on job boards across the UK in May 2011; compared to just 70,912 in May 2010.
With IT staff also seen to be the most in demand for both permanent and contract work in July’s Bank of Scotland Report on Jobs2 it looks like the pace of the last 6 months is going to continue throughout the remainder of the year.
