OSCR Selects Amor Group to help Streamline Business Processes and enhance service

Leading business technology provider, Amor Group, has been appointed by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) to design, develop and support a new online integrated system (‘OSCR online’) to enhance and streamline OSCR’s existing and future business processes.

OSCR is the independent regulator and registrar for charities in Scotland set up to: grant charitable status, keep a public register of charities, encourage, facilitate and monitor compliance by charities with charity legislation, identify and investigate apparent misconduct in the administration of charities and to take action and give information or advice, or to make proposals, to Scottish Ministers on matters relating to their functions.

There are over twenty three thousand charities on the Scottish Charity Register who are required to submit hard copy multiple page monitoring documents and accounts each year.  OSCR’s current operating system involves manually processing and checking the returns and accounts submitted. The new system will introduce efficiencies to its processes, streamline reporting for charities, and provide more detailed information about charities to the public.

The new system will power OSCR’s back office, provide an online self-service facility for charities and enhance the publicly available online Scottish Charities Register.

Alastair O’Brien, Public Sector Business Unit Director at Amor Group said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed by OSCR to create a system that will deliver efficiencies in their operating system and enhance information.  The ‘OSCR Online’ project builds on our strong track record delivering solutions to regulators.”

The new system will be developed during 2011 and Amor is contracted to provide support for the next 2 years.

Amor Group already works with a number of other regulators including Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) and Ofqual, the regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.
