RMD power and cooling approved to supply Data Centres for all UK Univeristies and Colleges
RMD Power and Cooling has been approved to supply, install and maintain data centres for Universities and colleges throughout the UK following its appointment to the North of England Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC) framework.
The four year framework comes into effect next month and the potential contract value is estimated at over £2,000,000. The framework, coordinated by NEUPC, covers all its members as well as other UK consortia including APUC, CPC, NWUPC, LUPC, SUPC and HEPCW.
RMD is the UK’s leading independent specialist in integrated power and cooling solutions and its appointment to this framework cements its reputation in the education sector. The company is already approved to supply, install and maintain UPSs to all Scottish and English Universities. Today’s announcement marks a significant move forward for the company to secure market share throughout the UK.
John Smykala, RMD Power and Cooling’s Managing Director explains: “In today’s economic climate it is critical that universities and colleges make savings and cut costs. Frameworks like these are vital for institutions to secure the best possible value for money and to ensure that they get the highest possible standards of service.
“We have worked in the education sector for many years and we are very excited about the opportunities that this framework creates for us. We believe that we can enable institutions to deliver as much as possible with the funds they have available.”
The framework agreement is made up of three lots. Firstly, the supply, installation and maintenance of Data Centre Management Equipment (UPSs, PDUs, data centre cooling, generators and fire suppression). Secondly, the supply, installation and maintenance of Data Centre Infrastructure equipment (server racks, network racks, cabinets, blanking panels and buiding management equipment). And finally, consultancy.
RMD is a leading force in the provision of innovative, integrated power and cooling solutions for data centres in the UK and Europe. The company has a powerful reputation in the industry and is one of only a handful of UK companies that can design, supply, install and maintain power and cooling.
