Small firms set to be guaranteed winners
BRAVEHEART, the Perth-based private equity group, has welcomed the announcement that the government is to extend the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme by a year. Under the scheme, approved lenders, including Braveheart, can make loans to small businesses backed by a government guarantee. It had been set to expire in March.
Braveheart chief executive Geoffrey Thomson said the extension meant the firm could now develop plans to move into business lending at a time when banks are showing little appetite to invest in small businesses.
