SymetriQ launches Enterprise Public Cloud with free beta trial
Edinburgh-based member company SymetriQ has launched a fully scalable Cloud Computing platform aimed at demanding customers who require Enterprise Service Level Agreements and greater flexibility than currently offered by “consumer” clouds such as Amazon and GoGrid. Already over 100 users are enjoying a free beta trial of their Enterprise Public Cloud and the company is offering further free beta trials to ScotlandIS members during September : accounts are activated automatically when a user signs up.
The SymetriQ Public Enterprise Cloud gives end users complete control over their Private Virtual Data Centre. They can provision Virtual Dedicated Servers with variable memory capacity and a full choice of operating systems, provision additional storage capacity, manage their internal and external IP addresses, provision pre-configured appliances like virtual firewalls and do all of this through a dynamic Flash interface.
“Our infrastructure provides us with a solid framework to allow us to deliver a Cloud Computing infrastructure suitable for enterprise customers who demand reliability, performance and the ability to quickly scale,” commented Phillip Huber, MD and Co-Founder of SymetriQ. “We talked to potential customers and many liked the idea of Cloud Computing but were dismayed by the current lack of worthwhile Service Level Agreements.” Although a public service, clients will be seeing the levels of service and underlying technology that they would expect from an Enterprise partner. The entire service is backed up by an enterprise class SLA.
Huber, formerly part of the management team at FlexiScale, believes that another key differentiator is true flexibility. “We use a drag and drop provisioning system and custom written billing engine that allows clients to deploy a private data centre quickly and then charge them by the hour,” he explains. “There are no long term contracts, you can use our cloud in one hour increments while long term data storage charges are only a few pence per gigabyte per month – we only charge clients when they use the resources like a true utility.”
