Tax shock funds fibre
Lord Carter’s GBP0.50 tax on copper lines to fund next generation broadband, announced in his recently published Digital Britain report, has certainly been a shock for the market. It has also taken the spotlight away from his universal service commitment for broadband of 2Mbit/s for everyone by 2012.
