VComm Venture Fair Launches to Connect Scottish Start-ups with Silicon Valley VCs
The Millennium Group together with the Edinburgh Stanford Link team today announced the launch of the inaugural Silicon Valley VComm Venture Fair and Technology Showcase. This exciting new event will connect Scottish technology start-up and SMEs with knowledgeable potential investors and customers in Silicon Valley.
Commenting on the launch, Colin Adams, Director of Commercialisation at the Edinburgh University School of Informatics said, “Scotland’s technology industries and universities are breeding grounds of talented entrepreneurs developing world class products and technologies. Getting those products to global markets and developing technology companies of scale is becoming increasingly difficult. In Silicon Valley alone $9.9 billion was invested last year by the regions venture funds compared with $213 million in Scotland. By taking our start-up and SME companies out to Silicon Valley to meet with key investors and by training and preparing the entrepreneurs ahead of the event, the VComm Venture Fair takes the pain out of the decision for the VCs to invest making it that much more valuable to all parties.”
The VComm Venture Fair takes place in San Francisco on 20th January 2009. There will be opportunities for up to 15 Scottish companies to participate in the full VComm package, which includes, elevator pitch training, third party endorsement of each pitch and pre-event investor preparation. There will be a technology showcase running alongside the VC Fair, at which up to 25 companies will be able to demonstrate their products or technologies to potential customers and partners.
