vQueue launches securing business from one of the UK’s busiest websites

Following the spin-out from IBM Software Specialist Versko, vQueue has secured its’ first significant customer after summer trials of the unique client queuing software.

The UK National Lottery operator Camelot implemented vQueue in August 2008 as part of an ongoing investment in the interactive part of their business, and specifically to help them increase capacity during popular lottery draws such as the £120M EuroMillions Super Draw last experienced on the 26th September.

vQueue enabled Camelot to successfully manage record-breaking demand for the draw by processing over 500,000 customers in two hours with an average waiting time of under 15 seconds. This helped Camelot achieve a new online sales record and, as a result, deliver even more money for the Good Causes – adding to the £21 billion-plus raised to date by National Lottery players. The system worked so well that National Lottery players also provided unprompted, positive feedback about the enhanced online service.

vQueue Director Rob Walker commented “We are obviously delighted that our first customer has had such great success.  We are aiming to win business from other gaming companies on a worldwide basis.”

vQueue can help any web based interactive service manage over demand by queuing users.  This reduces the number of users on the website at any point in time optimising throughput and therefore maximising revenue.

The product can help not just in the gaming and betting industry but also in retail, information portals, download sites and many other sectors where peak demand cannot be met.
