Enabling a Digital Scotland
Information and communication (ICT) or digital technologies have already transformed the way we work. They permeate our leisure pursuits and increasingly impact our lives. The pace of change has been dramatic and our reliance on these services and technologies will continue to increase over the foreseeable future. At a time when economic hopes are pinned on private sector expansion and an export-led recovery to counterbalance the reduction in public sector expenditure and employment, Scotland’s ICT industry provides an exceptional opportunity to drive growth, facilitate improved productivity and generate export income.
ScotlandIS represents Scotland’s ICT industry and the computing science research base. With internationally competitive firms, from global players to cutting edge start-ups and world-class universities, our membership provides competitive advantage, innovative technologies and efficiency improvements to customers across end markets in Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Food and Drink, Retail, Transport, Financial Services, Tourism and the Public Sector.
Scotland’s ICT industry will work with the new Government and its officials to rebuild the economy and ensure that Scotland emerges from the current recession as a stronger, internationally competitive country, embracing digital technologies.
I am delighted to share our vision with you. The full document can be downloaded from the link above.
