In this Member Spotlight we hear from renewing member, Phoenix Software, on their long-standing work as a supplier of the Royal Household and the emerging challenge of security, compliance and training in organisations for successful adoption of AI.
Who is Phoenix Software and what do you do?
Phoenix Software specialises in providing IT solutions and managed services to meet the unique objectives of our customers. Our approach focuses on modernising workplaces through the utilisation of modern innovative technologies, from cloud and hybrid infrastructure and AI, to cyber security, collaboration, and productivity solutions.
With over 35 years’ experience, we understand that technology is at the heart of every organisation. It is an enabler, and we deliver solutions that empower employees, transform workplaces, and create an enriched user experience.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.
Through our work with the Royal Household for over 10 years, Phoenix have been awarded a Royal Warrant for Supplier of IT Managed Services. We are one of an exclusive number of companies in the UK to hold this and this grants us the right to bear the Royal Arms.
What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?
Phoenix are proud to have a won a number of awards from strategic vendors such as Microsoft (UK Partner of the Year) and Dell Technologies (Public Sector Partner of the Year). However, our biggest achievement is the positive real-world impact we have on our customers, their employees, and wider communities.
What are the benefits of your continued ScotlandIS membership?
Phoenix have been supporting organisations across Scotland for over three decades and now have an office in Glasgow with more staff being hired in the country. Becoming a member of ScotlandIS has given us the opportunity to offer our expertise to a wider network as we all jointly support the digital economy and citizens of Scotland. We’re excited to continue to contribute, connect, and learn from others across similar and different specialisms.
What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
With the emergence of AI and the pace of change, one of the biggest challenges we see is how organisations take advantage of the possibilities while staying secure, compliant, and supporting their employees to adopt it. We’ve seen that AI has made technology more accessible to pretty much everyone in the world, blurring the lines between personal and work usage, the user expectation has been set at a high level and organisations need to find the right fit for them.
This is no longer only an IT project and involves many roles across the organisation coming together to provide a strategy, guidance, and training for staff. Alongside working with the wider public to ensure trust and transparency on how AI is used across their data sets.
