Join our series of events, ScotlandIS Tech Tidbits, on the first Tuesday of every month!
These 30 minute webinars will be short, informative sessions on a variety of topics, from exporting to cybersecurity, cloud computing to procurement, and many more.
Each event will feature a ScotlandIS member offering their expert insights and advice on the topic in hand, however you do not need to be a member to attend these talks.
For May, we’ll be joined by ScotlandIS member Phoenix and their partner, N-able.
In this session, N‑able will walk you through a real attack scenario drawn directly from recent frontline experiences. We’ll then tie the scenario to today’s threat landscape—where phishing, credential theft, and AI‑generated social engineering continue to target individuals directly. Finally, we explore how AI is transforming the SOC, helping IT teams better protect users, detect malicious behaviour sooner and accelerate a response through best practices and tools.
Here’s what we’ll cover in this session:
1. Attacks Start with a User: Most breaches begin with a human moment and why recognising early warning signs is crucial
2. Today’s Threats Are Faster and Smarter: Phishing, identity attacks, and AI‑driven impersonation have grown by 50% in 2025 according to the NCSC
3. AI Strengthens Defences: AI‑powered detection, analysis, and response help security teams act faster, cut through noise and offer organisations a strong return on investment in their security operations

With excitement building up to a fever pitch ahead of Scotland’s men’s national team competing on a global stage at the World Cup, and Glasgow welcoming athletes to the Commonwealth Games, we’re in for a standout summer of sport.
To kick-off proceedings, we invite you to join us for our annual IP & technology conference, taking place at The Social Hub in Glasgow on Wednesday 13th May.
This year’s event explores how intellectual property and technology powers sport. From driving innovation through the use of cutting-edge technology, to protecting the IP of some of the world’s biggest brands, we’ll look at how organisations are staying ahead of the game in their respective fields.
Our stellar lineup brings together speakers from across the sports, technology and IP landscape to share stories and insights from behind the scenes of major events, organisations and partnerships, leaving you inspired no matter what your sporting discipline of choice.
Speakers include:
- Willie Collum, Head of Refereeing at Scottish FA, who will give his take on the use of VAR in Scottish football.
- Gemma Fay, Managing Director of Women’s Rugby at Scottish Rugby, with over 200 caps playing football for Scotland now responsible for commercial growth and fan engagement across women’s rugby union.
- Andy Lee, Head of IP Litigation at Brandsmiths, who led the legal team representing Iconix (owners of the Umbro brand) in their high-profile trade mark infringement battle against Dream Pairs, which reached the English Court of Appeal and the UK Supreme Court.

After launching an SPFL-licensed mobile version in late 2025, the company is building momentum with a number of new partnership opportunities set to be announced.

Event Details
As organisations spin the ISO 27001, NIS2, the AI Act, GDPR and the Cyber Resilience Act plates, many ISMS programmes are starting to wobble under the pressure of overlapping regulation and expectations.
In this webinar, Jelle Verbeeck, Defend OT and Teresa Cheung, Head of Compliance, Resillion explore why your ISMS feels out of control.
They’ll drill down into where the misalignment really happens: between regulation and implementation, IT and OT, and audit success versus real risk reduction.
Drawing on real-world experience across IT/OT environments, they’ll discuss:
- why ISMS fragmentation accelerates under NIS2 and the AI Act
- why ‘passing audits’ no longer equals control or assurance
- how IT/OT convergence is fundamentally reshaping cyber risk and governance expectations
You’ll leave with a clear view of how to build a single coherent ISMS with unified governance clearer accountability and a risk model that works across IT OT and regulation.
