In this Member Spotlight we hear from new Business member, Direct Global, on their advanced data analytics platform, Bitpool, and joining ScotlandIS to collaborate with like-minded organisations, share insights, and build meaningful partnerships across the tech ecosystem.
Who is Direct Global and what do you do?
Direct Global is a leading energy consultancy delivering innovative, data-driven solutions that help organisations navigate the complexities of energy management. We empower our clients to reduce costs, manage risk, and accelerate their journey to Net Zero through actionable insights and deep industry expertise.
As an international organisation, we integrate energy procurement, data intelligence, optimisation, innovation, and net-zero delivery into a seamless, end-to-end service. Guided by our values of innovation, expertise, and reliability, we build transparent, long-term partnerships that support businesses in improving financial performance while creating a more sustainable future.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.
One of our key differentiators is our exclusive use of Bitpool, an advanced data analytics platform that provides real-time monitoring, predictive insights, and intelligent energy data visualisation.
Originally developed in Australia, we have brought Bitpool to the UK market with exclusive access and tailored it specifically for the energy sector. This allows us to offer capabilities that are not widely available elsewhere, giving our clients a more sophisticated and proactive approach to energy management.
We have further customised the platform to meet the unique needs of each client, transforming complex energy data into clear, actionable insights. This enables organisations to make faster, more informed decisions – reducing costs, improving efficiency, and accelerating carbon reduction efforts with our expert support.
What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?
One of our greatest achievements has been successfully supporting all our clients through the recent energy crisis – one of the most challenging and volatile periods the industry has ever faced. During this time, we worked closely with businesses to help them manage risk exposure, navigate unprecedented market conditions, and maximise available government support. Our guidance enabled many organisations to better control their energy costs and remain operational despite significant external pressures.
Internally, we made difficult but necessary decisions to reduce headcount in order to protect the long-term stability of the business and safeguard as many roles as possible, while continuing to deliver a high level of service to every client.
We are particularly proud that, despite these challenges, we not only sustained the business but have since achieved consistent year-on-year growth. This reflects both the resilience of our organisation and the positive impact we were able to deliver for our clients and the wider community during a critical time.
What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?
We recognise the value of becoming part of Scotland’s thriving digital technology community. Joining ScotlandIS provides an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded organisations, share insights, and build meaningful partnerships across the tech ecosystem.

What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
From our perspective, rising operational costs – particularly increasing non-commodity energy costs – are placing significant pressure on businesses across the tech sector. In addition, connectivity and infrastructure challenges in remote areas continue to limit the effectiveness and scalability of certain technologies, creating barriers to innovation and digital transformation.
