ScotlandIS Member Spotlight: 404 Code Lab
In this Member Spotlight we hear from new Startup member, 404 Code Lab, about the meaning behind their name, and on joining ScotlandIS to plug into a vibrant network of local innovators, share their expertise, and collaborate with other tech leaders.
Who is HAA Synergy Limited and what do you do?
We are a digital studio specialising in custom web design, web application development, and mobile app engineering. We help ambitious businesses turn complex ideas into slick, high performing digital products.
Whether it’s building bespoke websites engineered to convert leads, developing interactive web platforms, or launching mobile apps from scratch, we cover the full project lifecycle. Ultimately, we eliminate technical headaches and build robust, scalable digital tools that help our clients capture market share and grow their businesses.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.
In web design, a “404” usually means you’ve hit a dead end or something is missing. We named ourselves 404 Code Lab to flip that on its head we’re the solution when standard off-the-shelf options fall short. Where others see a technical brick wall or a broken process, we build the custom digital pathway forward.
What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?
Our biggest achievement is taking ideas from a blank canvas all the way to production and market success. A standout milestone for us was engineering and successfully launching our own consumer app, AstroBees, That’s Life & StreamVault just launched on the Apple App Store. Building, testing, and shipping complex software end to end gives us deep, hands-on empathy for our clients. When we design and code for them, we’re applying real-world product experience, not just theoretical design.
What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?
We joined ScotlandIS because it is the cornerstone of the Scottish technology ecosystem. As a growing studio, we wanted to plug into a vibrant network of local innovators, share our expertise in web and app development, and collaborate with other tech leaders.
The digital landscape evolves at a breakneck pace, and we believe the strongest results come from community and knowledge-sharing. We’re excited to get involved, support fellow members with their digital presence, and contribute to the growth of Scotland’s tech sector.
What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
The biggest challenge right now is bridging the gap between rapid technological change and real-world execution. Many UK businesses know they need modern, fast, and accessible digital platforms, but navigating performance standards, user experience, and evolving security requirements can feel overwhelming.
The key for our sector is helping companies move past over-complicated jargon so they can invest in reliable, well-engineered web infrastructure that drives measurable business growth without unnecessary bloat.
