Holyrood Connect is delighted to announce the return of the portfolio’s newest annual event, our Public Sector Data Summit, to be held on Tuesday, 14 March 2023 at COSLA, Edinburgh. After a wildly popular inaugural event, the 2nd annual Public Sector Data Summit will continue to establish itself as one of the premier events for Scottish public sector data professionals.
This year’s event will focus on providing real-life examples of data use within the public sector for delegates to learn from. These stories of challenge, persistence, and collaboration will hopefully inspire delegates as well as offer them a sense of community that leads to greater understanding and growth. The event will provide delegates with the opportunity to hear the latest developments around data sharing, maturity, strategy, and analysis, as well as to network with leading figures, peers, and industry representatives. Throughout the day, audience members will be able to include their own voices in the discussion through Question & Answer portions. Sessions of a variety of formats, including panel discussions, case studies, and plenary presentations, will delve into elements such as:
- Reflections on data’s role within the Scottish Government’s Digital Strategy as well as the overall state of data within the Scottish public sector.
- The complexity regarding the sharing and security of health and care data.
- The needle being threaded around the ethics of data use with regards to privacy, ownership, and intention.
- Examples of fellow public sector organisations’ data use challenges and the process of overcoming them.
- Further details regarding resources such as the Data Transformation Framework and the Data Intelligence Network.
This event is free-to-attend for those working in the public or third sectors. Register now to secure your place. If you work in the private sector, please email us to be added to our waiting list.

The ScotlandIS Digital Technology Awards showcase excellence within the industry, rewarding the innovation, expertise and ambition of businesses large and small – and the people who drive them.
Let’s highlight some of the great achievements within the tech sector over the last 12 months – nominate your organisation or an individual for the chance to be recognised amongst your peers.
Running for 13 years, the Awards are well established within our industry, offering winners the opportunity to use our platform to promote your business. Sharing your official winner’s badge on your website and social channels acts as a stamp of credibility and highlights quality standards to potential new clients.
If you have created a product or service that brings benefit to society, you could be eligible for the Tech for Good award, while innovative applications of data to transform businesses could indicate our next Data Trailblazer. If your organisation shows employees they are valued, and goes that extra mile to provide a positive working environment, then you might just have the Best Wellbeing at Work.
The Digital Tech Business of the Year category looks to recognise start-up’s, scale-up’s and large companies that impress the judges with their outstanding tech, commercial success and growth over the past year. The Unsung Hero award allows you to nominate an individual that does something truly special for the community, such as running code clubs or mentoring, and doesn’t usually get the credit they deserve.
There are a variety of different awards up for grabs that could shine a light on the fantastic work you’ve been doing, and all the criteria for each category is on our website so you can prepare your application answers in advance.
Don’t wait to apply – applications close 22nd February.
Digital Tech 2023 will take place on 18th May, at the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow. We look forward to you joining us for a night of food, fun and celebration of the industry.
