Event Details
The ScotlandIS Digital Technology Awards showcase excellence within the industry, rewarding the innovation, expertise and ambition of businesses large and small – and the people who drive them. Let’s highlight some of the great achievements within the tech sector over the last 12 months – nominate your organisation or an individual for the chance to be recognised amongst your peers. Running for 14 years, the Awards are well established within our industry, offering winners the opportunity to use our platform to promote your business. Sharing your official winner’s badge on your website and social channels acts as a stamp of credibility and highlights quality standards to potential new clients.
We have two brand-new awards for 2024: Cyber Trailblazer, looking to recognise companies that have a novel solution to a cyber challenge, and Digital Tech Rising Star, shining a light on early career talent and the leaders of tomorrow.
If you have created a product or service that brings benefit to society, you could be eligible for the Tech for Good award, while innovative applications of data to transform businesses could indicate our Data Trailblazer.
If your organisation shows employees they are valued, and goes that extra mile to provide a positive working environment, then you might just have the Best Wellbeing at Work. The Digital Tech Business of the Year category looks to recognise start-ups, scale-ups and large companies that impress the judges with their outstanding tech, commercial success and growth over the past year.
There are a variety of different awards up for grabs that could shine a light on the fantastic work you’ve been doing, and all the criteria for each category is on our website so you can prepare your application answers in advance. Digital Tech 2024 will take place on 2nd May, at the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow. We look forward to you joining us for a night of food, fun and celebration of the industry. If you have any questions about the Digital Tech Awards, please contact marketing@scotlandis.com.

An estimated one in four people in the UK experience pregnancy or baby loss. With the majority of these losses happening to people who are of working age, it’s an issue that deserves much more recognition and support from employers.
For this live-streamed conversation, we are joined by two women who have suffered their own loss and who, as a result of that experience, have become passionate advocates for change.
They will explain the challenges that an employee might face when they come back to work, what managers and colleagues can do to make this easier, and how employers can develop better frameworks of support and policies to help those who experience baby loss.
Our Panel:
Daria Preston is a Senior Business Change Practitioner at Bank of England. Daria co-leads the Fertility, Pregnancy and Baby Loss community at the Bank of England. She is dedicated to influencing people around this sensitive topic and creating a sense of belonging.
Daria led on the introduction of the Bank’s Parental Bereavement Leave and Pay policy providing up to one month of leave and pay to all colleagues including Partners who have / or are experiencing baby loss. Daria’s work is helping to shape the central Bank’s culture, leading the way for other companies to do the same. The Bank won the Working Families’ Fertility and Pathway to Parenthood award in 2022.
Donna Wayman is the Chief Operating Officer at Zurich Legacy Solutions and Trustee at Aching Arms UK – the baby loss charity providing comfort bears and support for bereaved parents alongside workplace support for policy implementation and staff training.

“Intellectual property has the shelf-life of a banana.” The often-used Bill Gates quote makes it sound like he wasn’t convinced about the value of IP. In fact, Bill was no stranger to filing patents. Microsoft has shown us all how to reap the rewards of innovation through the effective protection and commercialisation of IP.
From global tech through to media & entertainment, the value in IP is nothing new. This year has seen Walt Disney’s copyright in some early Mickey Mouse works expiring, but the cheery rodent earned his creators a fair bit whilst sitting on his particular shelf. But if it’s known that brands must protect what are arguably their most valuable assets, why are many organisations still falling short in maximising the returns of their creations?
This year’s theme of our annual IP & Tech Conference is “Building Value from Innovation & Creativity” and will explore how businesses can grow and retain value through properly protecting their IP and Tech assets.
We have a stellar line-up of speakers sharing their thoughts. We’ll hear from:
- Anas Sarwar – MSP and Leader of the Scottish Labour Party
- Anoop Joshi – Chief Trust Officer of Trustpilot
- Elaine Van Der Berg – CEO of Pufferfish
- Gareth Edwards – Chief Client Officer of GoCodeGreen
There will be an in-conversation panel session discussing the importance of protecting brands, with panellists:
- Graeme Di Rollo – Marketing & IP Counsel of William Grant & Sons
- Gemma Henry – Brand Protection Paralegal of Killstar
- Ian Stirling – Co-founder of Muckle Brig
- John Rowley – Consultant
And we’ll enjoy a fireside chat with Marie Owen, CEO & Founder of LS Productions, who will share her own experiences of growing her global media production business.

Based on excellent feedback and great response from previous events, IFB is organising another event from Lunch & Learn series.
There don’t seem to be lot of businesses without digital connectivity anymore due to the rapid advance of new technologies and now more compliance standards and regulations within the building and property sectors. Being able to connect people, places, systems and services is crucial for companies and their places of operation and work.
With this in mind, the aim of the upcoming Lunch & Learn session is to raise the importance of great connectivity, helping to improve the early-stage visibility of digital services for commercial locations and properties across the UK and enhancing end-user attractiveness developments for businesses and their customers.
Join IFB for the session where following topics will be discussed:
- System to System – Smart buildings and spaces
- System to People – HSE, productivity
- People to People – Collaboration, HSE, productivity
- Demands and game changers as you are seeing them
Light lunch & refreshment will be provided. There will be plenty of time for networking too.

- what the CPTPP is, along with the benefits for you and your business
- an overview of the business opportunities with CPTPP member countries
- how the CPTPP compliments existing UK Free Trade Agreements
Description
With UK exports to current CPTPP members forecast to increase 65% by 2030, this partnership offers huge potential for UK trade with overseas markets. This is thanks to the fact that 99.9% of UK products will be eligible for tariff-free trade, with lower tariffs also secured for other exports, such as whisky and cars. The UK is the first European country to join the CPTPP, after it concluded negotiations on 31 March 2023.
In this session we’ll look at the key sectors of the CPTPP and how you can make the most of its provisions and opportunities to sell your products or services to CPTPP member countries.
We’ll also explore how the agreement compliments existing Free Trade Agreements with CPTPP members, such as Japan, Australia and New Zealand. By joining this partnership, the UK will be at the heart of a dynamic group of countries in an important region for the global economy.

Singapore is an open, vibrant, and forward-looking country which operates as an excellent gateway for countries to expand further the Asia Pacific region. The fast-growing ASEAN and CPTPP economy is one of the UK’s largest trading partners in Southeast Asia, making it a great place to seek business opportunities in the wider region.
The UK-Singapore Digital Economy Agreement (DEA) came into force in June 2022 and the UK also has an FTA with Singapore, meaning that the UK and Singapore have a very open and digital-friendly trading relationship. With a focus on creating inclusive digital markets, the Singapore DEA offers a great opportunity for growth through the free flow of duty-free digital content, meaning trade can be easier for businesses and consumers, for products like e-books, music streaming services, or technology services.
The DEA has created a range of opportunities for businesses to grow in Singapore in the following sectors:
- technology and smart cities
- financial and professional services
- creative industries
- innovation-led businesses
- education
The event will also provide practical insights on how to sell overseas and expand into Singapore, from an overview of market opportunities, through to advice from a panel featuring UK businesses who have already started their export journey into Singapore.
