ScotlandIS Member Spotlight: Strategic Consulting Ltd
In this Member Spotlight we hear from new Startup member, Strategic Consulting Ltd, about being recently recognised as Innovators of the Year 2026, and the current challenges in tech of identifying talent, procurement processes, and technology adoption at pace.
Who is Strategic Consulting Ltd and what do you do?
Strategic Consulting Ltd is and Scottish based IT Consultancy. We work with organisations across the UK and the Europe, providing consultancy and support across IT strategy, programme delivery, service transitions, and technology projects. We combine consulting expertise with hands-on delivery, helping clients plan, deliver and sustain business change through technology that genuinely fits their organisation.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.
We were recently recognised by The CEO Views publication in their Innovators of the Year 2026 category for our practical approach to technology consulting and our work helping organisations manage complex IT and business change, across the whole change journey – from strategy and mobilisation, through delivery and assurance, to stable technology operations.
What makes us different from many consultants is that we’re not just advisors. We bring experienced people who have actually delivered change in complex, high-pressure environments.
So, whether an organisation needs to modernise its technology infrastructure and applications, recover a failing programme, deliver a major transformation or strengthen its IT support operations, we provide the expertise and practical delivery capability to make change happen – and make it stick.
What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?
Most recently, our CEO Gary Montgomery served as Programme Director for Nissan, helping them deliver a critical IT separation programme under aggressive, mandatory timelines. His leadership ensured business continuity and regulatory compliance throughout a strategically sensitive transition.
However, the achievement we’re most proud of is providing Trader Deskside and Application Support across multiple European locations for the 11th consecutive year at NatWest Markets – a track record that reflects long-term client satisfaction, trust, operational resilience, and deep expertise in capital-markets trading environments.
What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?
We joined ScotlandIS to be part of the wider Scottish tech community – to connect with other techy people, share what we’ve learned, and stay in tune with what’s happening across the sector. As we look to build out our business, we hope it will give us a way to plug into conversations we wouldn’t otherwise hear, find collaborators, and contribute to shaping the future of tech in Scotland.
What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
Across Scotland and the UK, we see some familiar big challenges: finding and keeping the right talent, navigating slow or complex procurement processes, and helping organisations adopt technology at the pace the market now demands. SMEs in particular need more practical support – not just funding, but clearer routes into procurement, easier access to skills, and help turning good ideas into real delivery. There’s also a wider need for stronger leadership in scaling companies, better access to investment, and more joined-up support for innovation across the whole ecosystem.
