Burness Paull has strengthened its planning and environment team with the appointment of a new partner as the firm experiences growing demand for specialist planning advice, particularly from the renewable energy and real estate sectors.
Emma Paton brings considerable experience of contentious and non-contentious planning and environmental work, including consenting advisory, contract negotiation, planning aspects of due diligence, public inquiries and appeals.
Her expertise is cross-sector with a strong focus on the renewable energy industry, having advised extensively on onshore renewable generation technologies and offshore wind developments across the UK. She has also spent time on secondment with the renewables arms of two major UK energy companies and the Scottish Government’s Energy Consent Unit as their technical manager, delivering on strategic projects.
