ScotlandIS Member Spotlight: Brightsolid
In this Member Spotlight we hear from new Business member, Brightsolid, on the unique way they support their customers through being a part of DC Thomson, and on joining ScotlandIS to contribute to conversations that shape the future of technology in Scotland.
Who is Brightsolid and what do you do?
Brightsolid is a technology services provider, bringing together brilliantly bright ideas with seriously solid solutions to meet not only our customers’ business needs, but also their ambitions. From the AI and process automation that maximise operational efficiency, to the cloud technology and cyber security that are the bedrock of an organisation, we help our customers supercharge their operation.
Our focus is not just on what we do, but how we do it and it’s this approach that ensures we’re there to help our customers make the right decisions every step of the way.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.
We’re part of DC Thomson, the Scottish media and technology giant. As well as giving us an incredibly secure financial foundation, it also lets us support customers in unique and interesting ways; like delivering copies of Puzzler magazine to Alzheimer centres across the country and giving organisations a voice in the national renewable energy debate.
What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?
There have been quite a few over the past 30 years, but we’re especially proud of our most recent. We’ve launched an AI-ready, UK sovereign cloud designed to give organisations more control, security and certainty in how they run critical workloads.
It’s built to solve some of the real challenges organisations are facing today: rising costs, increasing security risks, and the need for greater transparency and control.
What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?
Scotland has a strong and growing tech community and ScotlandIS plays a key role in bringing that community together.
Becoming a member was a natural step for us. It gives us the opportunity to share knowledge, collaborate with others in the industry and contribute to conversations that shape the future of technology in Scotland.
What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
Many organisations are facing a growing balancing act – managing rising costs, increasing security risks, and stricter compliance requirements, while still trying to innovate and move forward.
There’s also a need for clearer, more practical approaches to cloud adoption, data sovereignty and modernisation. It’s about making the right choices that deliver long-term value and control.
