ScotlandIS Member Spotlight: Scissortail

In this Member Spotlight we hear from new Startup member, Scissortail, about their focus on the technical support side of digital marketing, and on joining ScotlandIS to engage directly with the broader tech community in Scotland.

Who is Scissortail and what do you do?

Launched in 2024, Scissortail Digital Marketing originally started like many digital agencies. We provided business owners with social media management, web development, content creation, and SEO. However, as we worked with more clients, we kept seeing a recurring trend: business owners suffering revenue losses from backend errors, hacked pages, and locked Meta accounts. While everyone was competing to offer general marketing services, nobody was solving the high-stakes, technical platform problems that freeze operations overnight. Inspired to fix this, we pivoted to specialise in Meta Business Security Audits, Meta Account Recovery, workshops, and specialised backend technical support.

Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.

We operate where traditional marketing stops and complex technical support begins. Most agencies focus exclusively on front-end content and running ad campaigns, often overlooking the delicate security architecture that holds those assets together. We set ourselves apart by acting as digital archeologists and backend mechanics for your Meta setup. By mastering the intricate rules, security protocols, and policy frameworks of Meta’s ecosystem, we don’t just help drive online growth; we ensure it is built on fortification, a protected foundation that keeps your business running without disruption.

What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?

Over the past 2+ years, our proudest achievement has been our track record in Meta Business Account Recovery and asset protection. We’ve rescued locked or compromised Facebook and Instagram assets for businesses that feared their digital presence was gone for good. Above all, giving stressed business owners their peace of mind back is incredibly rewarding. Through our Meta Business Security Audits, we’ve helped clients secure their accounts against future disruption while saving them thousands of pounds in potential lost revenue.

What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?

As a Scottish agency deeply embedded in digital operations and social media infrastructure, joining ScotlandIS gives us the opportunity to engage directly with the country’s broader tech community. We joined to share our expertise in account security and digital resilience, learn from experienced tech leaders, and contribute to a well-connected network that champions safe, sustainable growth for local businesses.

What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?

Digital asset security and access management are massive, under-addressed challenges. As more businesses rely on third-party platforms for their core revenue, many remain vulnerable simply because their account permissions, two-factor settings, and admin roles aren’t correctly configured. As automated enforcement and cyber threats become more complex, the key challenge for Scottish businesses is balancing rapid digital adoption with proactive security audits, proper access controls, and ongoing education to keep their digital infrastructure resilient.
