In October’s blog from Head of Cyber, Ciara, she highlights some of the upcoming events over the next couple of months, not least our inaugural Cyber Showcase event for startups as part of Cyber Runway Scotland.
The dark nights are drawing in and the temperature is definitely dropping but that doesn’t mean that there is any let up on cyber activities up and down the country!
September saw some great cyber events throughout Scotland, and October and November are also pulling their punches with the inaugural Cyber Scotland Summit in Edinburgh on October 27th, followed by Cyber Runway in Dundee and Cyber Innovation Showcase and the Cyber Awards in Edinburgh on November 24th.
At ScotlandIS Cyber we are now firmly focussed on the Cyber Runway Scotland and Cyber Showcase event. We ran the first Cyber Runway Scotland event back in February, and had great engagement and feedback. We were delighted that Cyber Runway decided to come back to Scotland for a repeat, with ScotlandIS Cyber leading on the delivery of this event as we did in February. It is particularly aimed at Cyber SMEs (regardless of whether long established, start-up, scale-up or spinout!) but open to any cyber company based in Scotland. You can find the agenda on the ScotlandIS events page.
Day 2 of the Cyber Runway event is the inaugural Scottish Cyber Innovation Showcase. The Cyber Showcase cohort are now into week 2 of the 6-week programme, and the engagement and enthusiasm has been great to see. With speakers from Scottish Edge, Edinburgh Innovations and Genoa Black, we have covered topics from ‘what makes a good pitch’ to ‘how to build a growth strategy’, and there is much more to come as we take the participants through the programme in readiness for the final Showcase event on the 24th. Next up is a half day in-person training with Greg Summers, an expert on public speaking and stage presence.
Congratulations again to our participants and in case you missed it the first time they are:
- PolyDigi Tech
- CyberShell Solutions
- Dewar Cyber Consulting
- Nectis Ltd
- OSP Cyber
The excitement is building for this inaugural event aimed at industry leaders and investors. If interested in attending do please get in touch.
The Cyber Innovation Showcase will be held at The Higgs Centre at The Royal Observatory Edinburgh with a stellar Q&A panel involved who will be putting the companies through their paces after each presentation. The panelists are
- Pete Jaco, Chair / Non-Executive Director for high growth SME start-ups
- Joshua Walters, Partner, Osney Capital
- Elaine McKechnie, Senior Manager of Cyber Strategy, Frameworks & Threat Intelligence at Virgin Money
And we also have a keynote talk by David Ferbrache, Chair of NCRAB and Founder of Beyond Blue, to round off the day before we have some prize giving for best pitch of the day and most innovative company, to be judged by the panel.
This is being held on the same day as the Scottish Cyber Awards so it will be a full day of celebrating Scottish cyber innovation and successes across the entire cyber community.
