Top AI startups triumph at Edinburgh’s European Chatbot Summit

Some of Europe’s most promising AI startups were in the spotlight last week at the European Chatbot & Conversational AI Summit, held on March 19–20 at the University of Edinburgh.

The two-day event gathered over 300 attendees for keynotes, live demos, and discussions on the future of conversational and generative AI.

The competition saw five finalists selected from a global pool of applicants through a competitive evaluation process. These companies presented their innovations, reflecting the diverse applications of conversational AI across various sectors.

Event Programme Director Caroline Laurenson, Managing Director of TL Tech, said, “It has been such an honour to support the finalists and showcase the potential of these technologies. Navigating the world of tech as a new founder can be overwhelming, so we wanted to create a space where ideas can grow and companies can make those vital industry connections to help them on their journey. And in fact, it was this very event where our winning team first met!”

The finalists included:

● UnityFlow.ai (Scotland) – Developer of ThunderScribe, an inclusive transcription tool designed to enhance accessibility for under-represented voices.

● ELZU Ltd (England) – Creator of Mimi.coach, an AI-powered coaching and training solution.

● NERDPOLE (Austria) – A consultancy specialising in conversational AI solutions tailored for neurodivergent individuals.

● GoLLM Limited (Scotland) – Innovator in AI-powered analytics for public sector survey data.

● Nebuly (Italy) – Provider of next-generation analytics for the emerging Generative AI conversation market.

After a series of compelling pitches, the summit’s Best Pitch Award was presented to GoLLM for their approach to analysing and visualising unstructured data, such as feedback collected by local authorities about their facilities and services.

Meanwhile, the Best Poster Award, as voted by the audience, went to Unityflow.ai for their dedication to ensuring that the less commonly used languages are not left behind as AI technology advances.

“This competition is a testament to the incredible innovation happening in conversational and generative AI,” said Event Founder Sydney Eneremadu. “We are proud to provide a stage for these startups to share their work and inspire the industry with fresh perspectives and novel technology.”

The European Chatbot & Conversational AI Summit continues to be a leading event for those at the forefront of AI-driven communication, bringing together startups, investors, and established industry players to push the boundaries of what’s possible in this rapidly evolving field.
