This trade mission to the Netherlands is designed to actively support more women-led businesses in Scotland to explore new markets, build international connections and accelerate their export journey.
A recent Scottish Government report found that Scottish trade could increase by more than £10 billion over two years if women-led businesses exported at the same rate as those led by men. This mission is one practical way we are helping to close that gap and create real international growth opportunities for female founders and women in business.
Why the Netherlands?
The Netherlands is one of Europe’s most accessible and business-friendly markets.
With £51.2 billion in UK exports to the Netherlands in 2025, it is a powerful gateway to Europe and beyond. From major logistics hubs, 95% of key European consumers can be reached within 24 hours, making it an ideal test market for products and services.
Businesses benefit from:
- A flexible and transparent legal environment
- Low barriers to entry for foreign investment
- High English proficiency, with over 90% of the population speaking English
- Strong digital infrastructure and global connectivity through Schiphol Airport and major port access
For companies looking to expand internationally, the Netherlands offers both opportunity and accessibility.
