Abertay In Princeton Review Global Top Ten For Games

Abertay University has been ranked as one of the world’s top ten universities for postgraduate videogames education by the Princeton Review.

The 2022 list of leading universities for games design/development placed the Dundee university in 7th place, for its Masters in videogames design, recognising the value of the university’s Professional Masters in Games Development and MSc Computer Games Technology programmes.

Abertay’s undergraduate degrees, were also placed highly, within the top 20 worldwide – at number 17 – following seven consecutive years as number one in Europe.

2022 marks the thirteenth year of the Princetown Review. The publication has established itself as a global benchmark for excellence in games education. It assesses the quality of teaching as well other metrics such as campus facilities and graduate outcomes. Abertay has consistently scored highly in the ranking, building on a reputation forged since 1997 when the University launched the world’s first video games degree.

Professor Gregor White, Dean of the School of Design and Informatics, said:

We’re delighted to have been placed so highly in this important ranking. Our continued success is down to the hard work and dedication shown by the excellent teaching team in our School and reflects the excellent student experience on offer and our investment in campus facilities. It’s hugely encouraging to see the video games sector continuing to expand, both here in Scotland and across the globe, and we are proud that so many of our talented graduates go on to work with well-respected companies or having the vision and confidence to take the teams they’ve formed at Abertay on to become start-ups.
