Leading cyber security specialists Cyber Security Scotland and North Highland College UHI have signed a Joint Venture Agreement to create a Cyber Security Institute. Dr Nicholson, Founder and Executive Chair of Cyber Security Scotland explains:
“The Cyber Security Institute has been created to fulfil a market need in cyber-related skills development, awareness training and software product creation. The Institute brings together the respective strengths and expertise of both organisations to create an initiative that will benefit Thurso, the Highlands and wider Scotland.
This initiative reinforces Cyber Security Scotland’s longstanding commitment to supporting the local community. It is our vision to build a local nexus of capabilities to support the Caithness & Highland economy whilst also delivering across Scotland. Our cyber security services are helping to save Scotland from cyber-attacks and protecting public services. The standards and models we have created have gained Cyber Security Scotland a reputation for innovative, creative work that is dependable, delivered on-time and on-budget.
In two years we have built a reputation as a trusted adviser, created the cyber security standard for every public body in Scotland, accepted an invitation from the DFM to join the Scottish Government advisory board on Cyber Resilience and Baselined the cyber risk of every health board in Scotland.
Creation of the Cyber Security Institute is the next step in delivering our vision, building on our expertise and reputation.
North Highland College is an ideal partner for us to create the Cyber Security Institute. The College has connections across the Highlands; a reputation for innovation and an excellent track record in practical training delivery. I am delighted that the College has agreed the JV and am looking forward to working together on this exciting project.
