Exception Speaker to Open Spring “Empowering…” Program

Exception, one of Scotland’s most well established independent digital transformation specialists, has become the latest high profile name to pledge their support to the ’Empowering Women to Lead Digital Transformation’ program.

The cross-sector initiative, backed by ScotlandIS, The Scottish Government and Scottish Digital Academy, launched last year and has now completed three cohorts of its intensive leadership programs, bringing together over 60 aspiring female digital leaders from a broad variety of digital disciplines and organisations, ranging from financial services and digital consultancy, through to central government agencies, health bodies, academia and local government.

The latest cohort are meeting in Edinburgh for the first time this week, for two days of group work as they begin their three-month journey with the Empowering-You team.

One essential element of the in-person group workshops is the opportunity to hear from guest speakers who share their own personal leadership journeys and the key events, decisions and people who helped to shape those journeys. The opening speaker for the Spring program is Exception’s own Ruth Sadler, a Senior Project Manager with a diverse career having worked within both UK and Scottish Governments, as well as for global corporations in the financial services and technology sectors.

The “Empowering…” program aims to build a collaborative and powerful community of emerging women leaders in digital transformation roles across all industry sectors and at varied stages within their careers.

Commenting on their decision to support the initiative, Ruth said, “Being the manager of a member of one of the 2021 Cohorts, I jumped at the chance to be involved in 2022.  At Exception, we are committed to pushing the boundaries to help strengthen workforces to make them more inclusive environments for all.  In the future, we must be able to talk about leaders without having to differentiate between genders.

“We are delighted to play our part in recognising the remarkable female leaders already working across our industries. I am excited to meet the 2022 cohorts, as well as attending the graduation events to hear all about the amazing projects that they will under-take.”

The Spring “Empowering…” program will run from this week through to the 22nd of June. Further dates and details for the Autumn program will be released in the coming months and more information can be found here.
