Free Cyber Assessments Available for Scots Businesses

Scottish businesses can now accesses free cyber assessments, courtesy of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC).

With the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) recently reporting 2.7 million cases of cyber fraud in the UK over 2021-22, organisations must be on the front foot when it comes to their cyber resilience in 2023.

Cybercrime was on the rise on 2022, with businesses of all sizes facing data breaches, leaks, phishing scams, and ransomware attacks. With a massive gap in the cybersecurity workforce, businesses will need to invest in their cyber resilience now more than ever.

Jude McCorry, CEO of the SBRC said: “It is vital that organisations have their cyber resilience front of mind next year. Given the sharp rise in incidences and the often devastating impact that a cyber attack can have on an organisation, no one can afford to ignore their cyber processes and procedures their cyber processes and procedures.”

From 4th January, 280 Scottish organisations can access a free Cyber Essentials pre-assessment gap analysis by the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC) which will be delivered through its network of Trusted Partners.

This initiative is backed by Police Scotland, and is part of the Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework for a Cyber Resilient Scotland.

The free analysis of organisations cybersecurity systems will highlight areas of improvement to help them pass their Cyber Essentials accreditation the first time.

“Achieving the Cyber Essentials certification is a simple way for an organisation to demonstrate how seriously it takes cyber resilience to its customers, stakeholders, and suppliers” McCorry explained.

Cyber Essentials was developed by the NCSC and is delivered by IASME, a certification scheme that supports organisations of all sizes to safeguard against online threats and demonstrate a commitment to cyber security to customers and stakeholders.
