Major overseas businesses seek Scottish partners

Scottish Development International has approached ScotlandIS to publicise to members the opportunity to collaborate with two multinational organisations. 

Huawei is China’s leading digital technology company.  Headquartered in Shenzhen, it is mainland China’s largest investor into the UK with 15 offices across the UK and 890 employees.  Huawei plans to invest £650 million in technologies and procure an equivalent sum in services by 2017 in the UK. 

In Scotland, Edinburgh Council is working with Scottish Development International (SDI) to find suitable investment projects or companies with the aim of encouraging the company set up a base in the city.

  • Distributed Data Management Systems & Solutions
  • Bigdata
  • Disrupt fundamental Technologies/solutions

Schlumberger Limited is the world’s leading supplier of technology, integrated project management and information solutions to customers working in the oil and gas industry worldwide. 

Schlumberger’s Information Solutions group based in Houston, have developed several platforms namely, Studio (http://www.software.slb.com/products/platform/Pages/studio.aspx) and Petrel (http://www.software.slb.com/products/platform/Pages/petrel.aspx) selling them to the O&G industry.  They have approached Scottish Development International to ask for introductions to Scottish software companies with apps that can be added to their platform; key areas are data analytics, geosciences and petroleum engineering .
