ScotSoft2021 – Did someone say Cyber?

This year’s virtual ScotSoft 2021 is shaping up to be as insightful as ever, with nearly thirty speaker sessions bringing together global names to talk about digital transformation or machine learning, to space technologies or ethical hacking.

To give you a glimpse into the calibre of speaker sessions planned for the day, we thought we’d highlight some of the speakers in our cyber stream, one of the key themes of the event.

Here’s a bit of a taster of the lineup we have in store for you on October 7th.

David Goodbrand, Partner in the Technology and Commercial team at Burness Paull, will highlight the issues that developers need to be aware of to ensure both creativity and security goes hand in hand and provide some practical guidance to reduce your risk. David has over 20 years’ experience of advising on IT procurement and sourcing, commercial contracts and contract management, cloud and online services, software licensing, commercialising and licensing IP, and sits on SBRC’s Cyber Expert Group.

We have Holly Grace Williams, Managing Director at Akimbo Core – an ethical hacker with fourteen years of experience in leading information security teams. Holly will run through lessons learned from hacking the web applications of major organisations – but go a step further to look into what actually went wrong during the building process and talk about how web systems can be better hardened against attack.

Philippe De Ryck will be joining us as Founder of Pragmatic Web Security, to discuss with us the underlying problems and the struggles developers face when building secure software. He will use real-world examples to dive into the dangers that applications face today. Philippe is a Google Developer Expert and an Auth0 Ambassador for his community contributions on the security of web applications and APIs.

And finally, Founder and CEO of cybersecurity firm, 7 Elements, David Stubley, will take a look at the top ten critical security risks to web applications found in 2021 and instruct how to build mitigation strategies for these. David brings over 22 years of experience within the technical security market, where he has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise through the delivery of security testing and in the provision of technical expertise to high profile incidents.

Don’t forget to register and tune in on October 7th to access all of these insights and more – we can’t wait to see you there.
