What makes us unique: Our simulator is unique in the industry – out top-down approach allows us to very quickly replicate a client’s training environment to an appropriate level of fidelity and deliver a high level of realism to all kinds of training e.g. control room operation, Wind farm incident management etc.
The Challenge
The challenge – the problem the company set out to solve and why it matters – The founders both worked in the offshore survey business in the early 80’s – HSE wasn’t as high profile in those days and we founded the business in February 1988 with a broad plan to help improve safety and efficiency for the energy sector. In July 1988 the Piper Alpha disaster changed everything.
The Solution
In the aftermath of Piper Alpha our simulator became a focus for companies worldwide who wanted to improve the standard of their major emergency management training. Although we relied heavily on consultancy at that time we also began to build a range of HSE tools which would ultimately help us to move from selling our time to selling our products.
The Impact
Although our initial client base was the energy sector our products solve problems in any industry where HSE is important. Covid was a pivotal time for us as companies looked for ways to operate remotely – we found that our origin story resonated very well across industries and we now have a worldwide customer base ranging from Hospitals to one of the largest bottling plants in the world.
Future Plans
We continue to expand our product range with a new audit tool due for release this year which will allow easy configuration to handle all types of audit we’re also continuing to extend our remote training platform based on our existing simulator which allows clients to train without travelling – a huge benefit in cost and time. We’ve invested heavily in marketing and are well on track to meet ambitious targets for this year.
