What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?
We chose to become a member of ScotlandIS because it allows us to be part of Scotland’s thriving digital and technology community. As a long-established Aberdeen-based MSP and Cyber Security provider, we see real value in connecting with like-minded businesses, sharing knowledge, keeping ahead of industry trends, and helping shape the future of Scotland’s digital economy.
Membership also gives us opportunities to showcase our expertise, raise our profile, and build meaningful partnerships that will ultimately benefit our clients and the wider tech sector in Scotland.
What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
The tech industry in the UK and Scotland faces several key challenges:
- Skills Gap & Talent Retention – Demand for digital and cyber skills continues to outstrip supply. Attracting, developing, and retaining skilled people is a challenge, especially for SMEs outside the central belt.
- Cyber Security Threats – As cyber-attacks become more sophisticated, businesses of all sizes face the ongoing challenge of protecting their data and infrastructure while keeping pace with ever-changing compliance requirements.
- Access to Finance & Growth Support – Scaling technology businesses, particularly in Scotland, can be hampered by limited access to investment and growth capital compared to London and international hubs.
- Digital Inclusion – Ensuring that all regions, from rural Scotland to city centres, have equitable access to connectivity and digital services remains a major hurdle.
- Keeping up with Rapid Innovation – The pace of change in areas like AI, cloud adoption, and sustainability means organisations need to be agile, but many lack the resources or confidence to adapt quickly.
