In this Member Spotlight we hear from new Startup member, Xplore, on their unique real-time risk intelligence platform that can detect risks like smuggling, disinformation or insider threats for governments, law enforcement and enterprises.
Who is Xplore and what do you do?
Xplore is an Edinburgh-based startup building an explainable, real-time risk intelligence platform. We analyse open-source and behavioural data to detect early signals of risk — such as smuggling, disinformation, insider threats, and hybrid attacks — for governments, law enforcement, critical infrastructure operators, and enterprise clients.
Our platform combines AI agents, multilingual NLP, and graph technology to turn fragmented data into actionable insights.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.
What makes Xplore unique is its focus on explainability by design. Unlike black-box systems, every insight is traceable, auditable, and compliant with GDPR and the EU AI Act.
We also work in multilingual environments, helping uncover risks across languages, regions, and sectors — something particularly valuable for global enterprises and public sector organisations alike.
What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?
Our biggest milestone so far has been developing and validating the platform to TRL 4 in controlled conditions and securing interest from several government, corporate, and enterprise partners in the UK, EU, and Israel — all before our first public release.
What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?
We joined ScotlandIS to connect with the vibrant Scottish tech community, share knowledge, and find partners for our sandbox pilots.
We’re excited to contribute to the ecosystem and showcase how open, explainable AI can strengthen resilience for both public sector and enterprise clients.
What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?
One of the main challenges is balancing innovation with trust — ensuring that emerging technologies like AI are not only powerful but also ethical, transparent, and aligned with public values.
Another is bridging the gap between startups, enterprises and government, which is why communities like ScotlandIS are so important.
