Professional Scrum Master (PSM) is a two-day scrum master course that covers the principles and (empirical) process theory underpinning the Scrum framework, and the role of the Scrum Master in it. This course is a combination of instruction and team-based exercises and teaches what is at the heart of the Scrum and Agile movement. The course also includes a free attempt at the globally recognised Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I), which if you successfully pass will accredit you with the title of Professional Scrum Master.
Over the two days, students will see why the Professional Scrum Master course is cutting-edge in scrum training, producing effective Scrum Masters, and suited for anyone coaching a team toward increased efficiency and effectiveness. The course includes advanced thinking for servant-leadership and behavioural shifts.
Throughout the course, students are challenged to think in terms of the Scrum principles to better understand what to do when returning to the workplace.
The PSM course is much more than just a set of slides and an instructor. In this course, students work on real-life cases with other classmates together as a team. This course is made up of discussions and hands-on exercises based upon real-life cases. Individuals who complete our scrum training will be able to take the Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I), which if they then successfully pass will accredit them with the title of Professional Scrum Master.

Event Details
The Professional Scrum Product Owner – Advanced (PSPO-A) course focuses on helping experienced practitioners expand their ability to establish a solid vision, validate their hypotheses, and ultimately deliver more value to their stakeholders. The PSPO-A course is intended for Product Owners who are looking to grow their knowledge and abilities.
This course is an interactive, experiential workshop where attendees explore topics through a series of exercises and discussions. Students should have at least one year of Product Owner experience and a practical knowledge of Scrum in order to participate in and benefit from these exercises. Having previously taken the PSPO class is recommended, but not essential.
The Product Owner’s role is multifaceted, requiring the practitioner to engage in behaviors and adopt mindsets beyond the core of Agility and the Scrum Framework. This course surfaces these behaviors by challenging the student to adopt several different Product Owner stances:
Customer Representative – focused on understanding customer problems, challenges and potential opportunities
Visionary – communicating the vision, future state and possibilities in ways that foster common understanding
Experimenter – focusing on innovation, hypothesis testing and validating potential value to spark product innovation
Influencer – communicating with and influencing stakeholders, customers and the Scrum Team to act with common purpose
Collaborator – seeking input, ideas and feedback from others
Decision Maker – focusing on creating maximum impact by making clear choices and decisions
Over the 2 days, students will learn about areas critical to growing as a successful Product Owner and through a series of exercises combined with instruction, students gain a better understanding of what it means to deliver value and how to express that value inside and outside of the organization.

The German Capital Region and Scotland are born partners in data-driven innovations in of AI, Fintech, Blockchain, Cybersecurity and IoT / Industrie 4.0, just to name a few hot areas of collaboration. Together they form ideal grounds to develop applications for financial services/fintech , energy, mobility, digital health, smart cities and the digitization of modern life in Europe. The virtual networking conference provides an opportunity to German and Scottish IT & Tech players to connect and start informally exploring the synergies and meet potential partners for a cross-border collaboration.
Scotland has over 9.400 digital technology companies from software development and IT services with particular strengths in data-driven innovation. Edinburgh was recently named the UK’s top city for start-ups and attracts more foreign investment than any other tech cluster outside London. Scotland’s digital technology sector is forecast to grow by 38% by 2024, making it the fastest growing sector in Scotland and increasing twice as fast as the Scottish economy overall.
The German Capital Region centred around Berlin has become a top location for ICT innovations. Together with the media and creative industries, ICT forms a cluster with about 48,000 companies and more than 240,000 employees from a wide range of fields: from media businesses, service-providers, publishing houses and advertising agencies to telecommunications providers and software developers. Companies such as Axel Springer, Deutsche Telekom, Mozilla, Nokia, Universal Music and Viacom International Media Networks are all based in Berlin. Start-ups such as Zalando, Sound Cloud, 6wunderkinder, Onefootball, Wooga, N26 , Smava, Ada Health are just a few of the younger success stories that have been written in Berlin. Berlin is the digital innovation lab for most German industry. As a creative centre and internationally renowned start-up metropolis, major international media and communications festivals and trade shows take place in Berlin. IT-related research in the region is ranked internationally and the growth rates of the Berlin ICT sector are higher than average.

With the advancement in ‘everything cloud’ and a drive towards digital innovation, businesses are more “digital” than ever. This has brought many benefits; cost savings, efficiency improvements, and agile working; but it has also exposed a weak spot that the cyber criminals are taking full advantage of. Attackers are embracing these same technology trends and innovations – at potentially great cost to the organisations they target.
Join Quorum Cyber’s founder & Chief Executive, Federico Charosky and former Head of the UK National Technical Assistance Centre Robert Hayes, on Tuesday 23rd February, as they discuss the sweet spot between security and innovation and how to achieve the balance without opening your organisation up to the increased risk associated with cyber-attacks.

Join NCC Group’s event as part of Cyber Scotland Week.
Last year NCC Group worked with UK consumer champion Which? to investigate the security of various domestic IoT products – these included Internet connected toys, doorbells, and smart plugs. Our research identified a number of security, privacy and safety issues across most devices, highlighting the need for improved IoT security standards, regulation and certification in order to protect the safety and security of consumers.
In this talk we walk through some of the security and safety vulnerabilities that we uncovered, and show examples of where we had some devices successfully removed from online marketplaces. Moreover, in this presentation we’ll highlight the common areas where domestic IoT security fails; what consumers should look out for, and what they can do themselves by way of secure device configuration and operation to minimise risk.

This event from Siker Cyber and Scottish Business Resilience Centre is part of Cyber Scotland Week 2021.
Before SolarWinds, in July 2020, an Atlantic Council feature stated: “Software supply chain attacks are a regular feature of cybersecurity but remain understudied as a tactic of malicious actors and a tool of cyber statecraft”. Statecraft happens but, the fact remains that non-malicious actors cause the most frequent incidents (91% of breached start with phishing to an unsuspecting person – Deloitte. Jan 2020). With COVID the threat landscape has exponentially increased the opportunity for non-malicious actors to cause breaches, while hackers are using the soft-touch gateways to gain access to supply chains and corporate infrastructure
A panel of experts will discuss vital topics including
-
The most common sources of attacks, referring to incidents, their implications and lessons learned.
-
Everyone has a role to play, because people are the first line of defence.
-
Economic training not only up-skills competency but develops a culture of cyber awareness and protection.
-
Standards, frameworks and taxonomy are the common foundations in building resilience.
-
Better communication via a common lexicon and cultural interaction between IT and Operations reduces risk and accidents.
Moderator: Peter Meehan, Co-Founder, Cybersecurity Workforce Alliance (CWA), SVP iQ4 Corp.

This event is part of Cyber Scotland Week 2021 and is being supported by technology and security specialist Converged Communication Solutions, with a 45-minute interactive presentation and a Q&A opportunity at the end.
The session will be delivered via video conferencing platform Zoom and will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 24.
As organisations have transitioned to remote working and are relying on digital communication more than ever, many employees and volunteers have fallen victim to cyber threats.
Working together, TechFest and Converged aim to bring an entry level understanding to those at the start of their cyber journey. Topics covered will include: how cyber security affects an organisation, why cyber criminals target charities, what the different types of attacks are and how individuals can identify risks.
The tech specialists will also simplify common IT and cyber jargon as well as explain techniques used by hackers, such as social engineering, which pieces together information from social media profiles in order to access your personal data and hack into accounts.
TechFest and Converged have created a poll for attendees to identify areas of concern in advance so these can be addressed during the event.

Providing expert Cyber security guidance, tailored to the work of professionals in FinTech and Financial Services; during Cyber Scotland Week 2021.
Organisations need the cooperation of both The Red Team and The Blue Team in order to get the complete picture of the security posture of their business. The Red Team provides information on all the operations they performed while in ‘attack mode’ and The Blue Team delivers information around the actions they took while in ‘defence mode’ and plugging in any gaps and addressing vulnerabilities that The Red Team exposed. As well as the core deliverable an effective Red Team can provide operational intelligence to help boost the Blue Teams capability.
Join founder and Chief Executive, Federico Charosky and Head of Testing Dan Stewart on Wednesday 24th February as they discuss the mindset of a “strong defence is a strong offense” and how you can mature your Blue Teams capability using Red Team skillsets and ultimately become more resilient to threats.

Covid-19 has piled untold pressure on business: home-working, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and remote access to company informational assets are only some of the huge operational overhauls of 2020. But what about the impact these changes have on Corporate Governance?
As a result of Covid-19, we’ve seen a huge surge in opportunistic cyber-crime. This session highlights the responsibilities and accountability of boards, and ways in which you can determine organisational risk appetite from an informed, critical perspective, without all the usual scare tactics.
We will cover:
– Corporate Governance with specific reference to cyber security
– Basics of Information Assurance
– Understanding Organisational Risk Appetite
– Q&A: Please submit any questions in advance for us to cover in this session

Event Details
Imagine joining a quiet, friendly organisation staffed largely by millennials and academics as the interim head of change … then being faced with a crisis on a global scale which rocked the company to its core. This is what James Lindsay experienced at Cambridge Analytica in 2018.
In March 2018, multiple media outlets broke a global news story regarding business practices at Cambridge Analytica which involved Facebook data and its uses. The organisation was thrust, almost overnight, into a crisis which ultimately resulted in Cambridge Analytica going into administration in May 2018.
During his career as an interim manager, James has worked with numerous clients on BCM and latterly resilience. He will join us online to explain the mechanics of Cambridge Analytica’s crisis management, as experienced from the heart of the storm. He will share stories of the impact on staff and some of the practical challenges that resulted from such immediate alteration from ‘business as usual’. This is not a discussion of the rights or wrongs of business decisions taken long before James joined the organisation, but a fascinating real-life dissection of the effects on ordinary staff members, key processes put in place to cope and the importance of clear communications strategies.
Whilst this exact circumstance is unlikely to happen to many organisations, parallels can be drawn between other immediately reputation-altering incidents, including cyber-attacks or major supply chain failures, both of which have also been seen already in 2018 and are much more likely to occur to your organisation.

Third sector organisations are an underused resource for many patient care scenarios. There are twice as many volunteers in Scotland as the combined workforce of the NHS and Local Authorities. But third sector service providers are not fully integrated with the health and statutory social care community. The biggest challenge in moving to a more integrated and collaborative approach is trust – particularly as the third sector sits outside the legal and technology domains of the public sector.

Yes, we were all a bit sick of GDPR after the legislation was brought in a couple of years ago – however, the digital shift and working at home for the last nine months has brought challenges when it comes to reaching our audiences. We thought it was a good idea to have a bit of a refresher session to ensure that marketers are still as data-savvy as ever and recognise when compliance might be compromised.
Additionally, Brexit has just come into effect. What’s the implication for you when you want to run a new campaign? We’ll still be governed by the DPA but the equivalence agreements are still to be confirmed for PECR and GDPR, will there be any changes you have to make to how you and your team work?
We’ll be joined by Helena Brown, Data, Commercial and IP Partner at Addleshaw Goddard, and Jo McLean, Managing Associate within the Commercial Services division of Addleshaw Goddard. Jo is a specialist in technology, IP, data protection, e-commerce work and competition law. Helena and Jo will lead this session on 25th February, from 3-4pm.

Join Scotlandis Cyber and Siker Cyber on 26th February for a practical demonstration on how an adversary can try to manipulate Industrial Control Systems to make them do something they shouldn’t, like to turn off the lights.
Stuart Harwood, Global Assessments, and Tim Canning, Senior Consultant at Siker Cyber will give a demonstration consisting of a physical Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) running a small industrial control application apparently controlling a small process plant. The process plant is simulated to ensure all responses are realistic. Connected to the PLC is a Human Machine Interface (HMI) workstation featuring a graphical representation of the process plant. The HMI is used by the Operations Engineer to control the process machinery, and to alter settings to change operational conditions. There is a remote access facility to allow Maintenance Engineers to carry out work without the need to go to the site. There is also wireless communications connection that extends the network across open ground that cannot have a cable laid.
We will demonstrate a simple wireless attack to gain network access, which then allows pivot onto the HMI machine and control of the plant. Following this, you will see an alternative attack option using the weakness inherent in legacy industrial communications protocols to force changes in operational conditions.
The Siker Cipher Maze Challenge results and prize giveaway will also be announced live at this event.
