An exciting industry engagement session from the Scottish Government’s Digital Publishing Service, in conjunction with the Digital Commercial Service, is taking place in October 2022 on the Digital Scotland Design System.

The Scottish Government’s Digital Scotland Design System is a free resource developed by the Digital Directorate which helps public sector organisations build high-quality websites and digital services: https://designsystem.gov.scot/

The Design System promotes the re-use of pre-built components which are common to most websites and digital services, driving efficiencies in the use of public funds and saving time and resource for development teams.

Design System components have been created by a multi-professional team and meet all accessibility, usability and web standards. Using the Design System to deliver digital services also helps to deliver a high-quality, consistent and well-tested experience for the citizens of Scotland.

In addition to sharing components, the Design System website also includes source code, styling guidance, interactive examples and implementation notes for developers.

The Design System is a key resource highlighted in the Scottish Government’s latest Digital Strategy and supports the ambition in the Programme for Government, to ensure a connected Scotland and tackle the digital divide.
