UWS Graduate Apprentice applications for September 2019 NOW OPEN

University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is pleased to announce that applications are now being taken for the next intake of our BSc (Hons) IT: Software Development Graduate Apprenticeship(GA) commencing in September 2019.

GAs provide a work based learning route to degree level qualifications for individuals who are already employed or who want to go straight into work. Developed in partnership with industry, GAs are changing the way employers recruit and retain talented employees and support their workforce to develop the skills their business needs.

Building on our track record of industry collaboration, UWS is committed to working direct with businesses to create bespoke GA experiences which deliver the skills and qualifications industry needs. As a result, we have invested in growing our GA portfolio and are delivering 5 GA programmes in 2019:

·       BSc (Hons) IT: Software Development

·        BEng (Hons) Engineering Design & Manufacture

·        BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering

·        BA (Hons) Business Management

·        BA Early Learning & Childcare

Accredited by the British Computer Society, our BSc (Hons) IT: Software Development Graduate Apprentices gain a broad knowledge of core topics including software development, software engineering, database and web service development and information security management alongside optional specialisms including programming for mobile devices, secure programming and database applications. Apprentices, and their employers, are central to shaping their own learning programme deciding over 60% of the topics learned and, with over two thirds of the learning taking place in the workplace, we can create a bespoke learning experience in line with the priorities and objectives of the employer and apprentice. The programme is delivered from UWS’ new Lanarkshire Campus using modern innovative teaching practice with blended learning, industry-led projects and minimal exam based assessments to help apprentices balance study with their work and personal commitments.
