Tell us about a business challenge you have faced (new product designed/client challenge/etc)?
Skyscanner advertised on social media for legal support from 2 paralegals to help with a data entry task involving their contract and share management databases. We were able to get “under the hood” of the problem to understand the challenges resulting from current systems, including them being resource and paper-heavy, particularly for the in-house legal team.
What was your solution?
Our solution was to re-invent the job by providing our dedicated Legal Technologist to develop a self-service web front end – a neat but simple technology solution negating the need for 2 paralegals.
Tell us about the benefits of your solution to the initial problem?
Benefits were numerous including speeding up processes (e.g. of dealing with employee shares for leavers); removing unnecessary paperwork from legal and HR teams; building in quality assurance through a self-service element and ultimate freeing up our client’s legal team to focus on more strategic matters. As an additional benefit, sitting our Legal Technologist inside the client’s legal team allowed us to spot other opportunities for innovation.
